Jiagui Jiang, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor, graduated from Fudan University in 1963 and joined the Teaching and Research Section of Radiation Injury in the Department of Public Health at Suzhou Medical College in the same year. He has long been engaged in teaching and scientific research in radiation medicine. His primary research focuses on the specific scavenger of superoxide free radicals—superoxide dismutase (SOD). He successfully established a process for extracting high-purity, high-activity SOD from pig erythrocytes and achieved its commercialization, filling a technological gap in China. His scientific achievements have been recognized with six Third Prizes for Scientific and Technological Progress from the Ministry of Nuclear Industry, two Second Prizes for Scientific and Technological Progress jointly awarded by the Commission for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and the Ministry of Nuclear Industry, as well as one First Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress from the Provincial Office of National Defense Science, Technology and Industry and one Second Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress from Suzhou City. Since 1996, he has been a recipient of the Special Government Allowance from the State Council. He has published over seventy academic papers and holds three national invention patents.
